  • BSCS Packages of Support

    BSCS offer two types of specialist packages of support: Advisory and Teaching 

    These packages are delivered by BSCS staff including Qualified Teachers of the Deaf, Vision and Multi-Sensory Impaired alongside specialist Habilitation staff and Qualified Educational Specialist Teaching Assistants 

    Advisory Support Package

    • Observation, assessment and pupil specific advice and signposting to useful resources and guidance 
    • Liaison with home, school and other relevant professionals
    • Provision of training around how to meet the needs of pupils who have a sensory impairment
    • Provision of a Pupil Profile which includes recommendations and a summary of the potential impact on access to learning. Note - children with an Education Health and Care Plan will have a full BSCS report 
    • Additional visits may be allocated for young people who are using additional assistive technology, transitioning to a new key stage or who require input from Habilitation specialists
    • Loan and maintenance of specific educational specialist equipment

    Teaching Support Package

    • Specialist teaching sessions in educational and early years settings
    • Working in partnership with parents/carers as part of a home teaching programme
    • Provision of an annual report for each child and young person
    • Bespoke training for schools and early years settings
    • Contribution to writing and review of Individual Education or Family Plans
    • Contribution to Statutory Assessments and Annual Reviews
    • Multi professional working
    • Advice on audiological management and assistive technology to support hearing/visual access to learning
    • Loan and maintenance of specific educational specialist equipment
    • Working in partnership with parents/carers at home for pre-school children as part of the team around the child
